It's been another whirlwind of a few weeks.. I was in Hawaii for the Hot Import Nights tour (whatup Honolulu??) Dec. 4-6... it was a blast and the weather was beautiful!! It was eerie leaving on Dec. 6th.. the day before the anniversary of Pearl Harbor, and the airport being a half mile away from the site.. it was interesting. Fun fact... General Walter Short (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walter_Short), who was in charge of military installations in Hawaii at the time of the attack, was my great-great uncle... cool, right?
Unfortunately, while in Hawaii, we recieved the sad news that our good friend Jeremy "Slugger" Preston, passed away at the young age of 32.. Slugger was one of the most genuinely friendly and caring people I've ever met, and he touched the lives of anyone he crossed paths with. It's gonna be tough to go through life without getting a phone call of "What's your deal kid?".. He was a happy guy that would've given anything he had to make someone else happy, even someone he barely knew.. Slugger, we love you and miss you bro.... This is for you!!
But out of that sadness, a great thing happened a few days later.. I went to St. Louis and spent three days working with world renowned, grammy-winning, multi-platinum producers The Trak Starz.. If you're not familiar with the Trak Starz, then you should be... they consist of multi-talented producers Zo and Sham as well as a whole roster of other producers under the Trak Starz name... here's a short list of some of the records they've produced:
"Right Thurr", "One Call Away", "Holidae Inn" and the rest of Chingy's debut album Jackpot
"Me Against The Music" - Britney Spears feat. Madonna
"Splash Waterfalls" - Ludacris
"Do Your Time" - Ludacris
"I Like That: - Houston
Thats an extremely abridged version, as they've worked with hundreds upon hundreds of artists...
But anyways, I did two records with them and their artist, St. Louis native Tydis... it was an incredible experience. I slept on their couch, underneath 20 million records-sold worth of gold and platinum plaques... it was a very humbling experience. The Trak Starz were very impressed with what I did with their tracks, and you can expect to hear even more work from Kob/Trak Starz for sure... until then, watch for the songs "Alive" and "Zoom" from Kob feat.Tydis... Shoutout to DJ Warrior too!!
You do this for you, I do this for WE!! I love y'all, don't never forget that... R.I.P. Slugger, I hate to have to go through the rest of this journey without you, bro.
Here's Tydis' new single "Make Me Say"... check him out at Myspace.com/Tydis
'til next time, same Kob channel, same Kob time, you know what it is!
